PetFill® – Preventing Odours in Synthetic Lawns

If you have a dog and your synthetic lawn is installed without PetFill®, unpleasant odours are inevitable. Dog urine penetrates the silica sand infill, seeps through the grass backing, and reaches the underlying base of cracker dust or crushed blue metal, eventually making its way into the soil. The issue isn’t absorption by the synthetic grass itself but rather the accumulation of urine in the infill and base, leading to ammonia gas formation, which causes foul odours.

PetFill® effectively prevents this by absorbing urine before it reaches the backing and base. Scientifically proven to have high ammonia-binding capacity, PetFill® traps the urine within its molecular structure, preventing the formation of odour-causing gases.

Application Instructions

PetFill® is designed to replace traditional sand infill in synthetic lawns. For best results, apply it dry onto a dry synthetic surface. Always store PetFill® in a dry location.

Once the artificial turf has been installed and is secure (joins taped and edges pinned), apply PetFill® as follows:

Spread & Work Into Turf Fibers:

Evenly distribute PetFill® across the artificial lawn. Use a stiff plastic-bristled hand broom to gently work it into the turf, brushing against the fibres. Over time, PetFill® will settle into the thatch fibres. Some lawns may require a slight top-up after a few weeks. If using a power broom, avoid flicking PetFill® out of the lawn area.
